DescriptionThe Aboriginal Interview Friends Scheme was developed in response to the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody. This scheme is also known as the Anunga Rules. This program involves a number of community volunteers who provide support and assistance to Aboriginal people when brought into police custody for interview. Overall the goal is to ensure that Aboriginal people are treated fairly, respectfully and legally during interviews with police.
