Criminal Justice Issues in Australia affecting Indigenous Australians: Alcohol-Related Violence, Purchase of Unregistered/Uninsured Vehicles, and Public Drinking Legislation

Description

Alcohol related violence, including family violence, the purchase of unregistered/uninsured vehicles and public drinking legislation are seen as three major criminal justice issues affecting Indigenous Australians. The paper gives a brief summary of the present state of these issues in society, factors that may be contributing to the prevalence of these crimes, the effects of these offences on society and possible solutions or points for consideration. These topics were discussed at the 2010 ANZSOC Conference by Superintendent Kym Davies.
