COAP Closing the Gap Annual Report 2022

Description

This Annual Report tracks the progress of the Coalition of Peaks over the months following the release of the National Agreement, from July 2021 to August 2022, highlighting the work of the  Peaks Members in the last year and how the National Agreement on Closing the Gap is being implemented across the country.

This includes significant progress being made against commitments in the Coalition of Peaks Implementation Plan.  In particular, the establishment of five policy-partnerships, bringing together experts from within the Coalition of Peaks, independent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives with professional expertise and lived experience, and government parties, to address specific policy areas.

The report also highlights progress on establishment of five place-based partnerships, which bring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities together with governments to share decision-making, drive community-led outcomes, and support community-led development initiatives. There are also a number of sector strengthening plans that align with the elements for a strong community-controlled sector outlined in the National Agreement, covering workforce, capital infrastructure, service provision, governance and accountability.

The Annual Report also reflects on areas where progress remains slow, being Priority Reform Three, which is about transforming mainstream organisations, and acknowledges that more needs to be done.
