This report is useful for those researching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) people with disabilities in prison. Part 1 contains information on the over imprisonment of ATSI peoples, over imprisonment of ATSI women with disabilities and barriers to justice encountered by ATSI people. Part II details racism experienced by ATSI people in prison. The report provides recommendations for the Federal government, including conducting an independent study focusing on ATSI people with disabilities. Recommendations to Ministers for Corrective Services include providing funding for specialised and culturally appropriate support to ATSI people with disabilities in prison. The report recommends improving access to justice for people with disabilities, particularly ATSI people.
